We are working on some cool AudioCubes T-Shirts. Check out the photos here of our in-house model showing them:
Dirk Kuntze (DJ D’Dread) from Germany, which we met at the Musikmesse back in March, reports about the GRANdE MASSIFE where he played with AudioCubes. Grande Massife is an outdoor arts and music event. You can get more info from their blog here: http://www.blog.grandemassife.de/.
Get the press release about the event here: Grande Massife 08 Press Release (PDF file)
Dirk also performed at the Street ArtAffair in Leipzig with the AudioCubes. You can get the press release here: Street ArtAffair Leipzig Press Release (PDF file)
More info about Dirk’s work is available from his MySpace page here: http://www.ddread.de/. Radio Mephisto did an interview with Dirk. You can listen to it here:
Information about the interview is available from Radio Mephisto’s website: http://mephisto976.uni-leipzig.de/sendungen/der-tonleiter/beitrag/artikel/tonleiter-musikmagazin.html
Some nice photos:

A Japanese Magazine, Gakken’s Otonanokagaku (Science for Adults), did a review about the AudioCubes with Cornelius a while ago. Read about Cornelius’ work here:

The magazine also contains an interesting synthesizer kit. A big thank you to our distributor in Japan, MI7, for sending us a copy of the magazine. Doomo arigatoo gozaimashita!

Beat Magazine did a nice interview and review about the AudioCubes.

We also got a recommendation for AudioCubes from the editor:

Thanks a lot to Thomas from Beat for spreading the word!
Interface magazine published a nice interview with Bert and a review on AudioCubes (in Dutch). Here is the article in PDF format:

Cycling ‘74 recently announced Max/MSP 5, a new version of its well-known creative development environment Max/MSP. Read the full story here: http://www.cycling74.com/story/2008/4/23/183612/870
As you probably already know, AudioCubes comes with an open source development kit consisting of the hardware communication external for Max/MSP and a collection of Max/MSP patches for making your own applications for AudioCubes. You can download all software from this page and check it out, even if you don’t have AudioCubes : http://www.percussa.com/isupport.php
Today we tested the patches and external with Max/MSP 5 and all patches and external seem to work fine. If you encounter any problems feel free to drop us a message in the forum at http://forum.percussa.com/ and we’ll look into it.
Happy patching!
We put together a mini audiocube configuration panel for building audio applications easily with the cubes and Max/MSP. This will also let us develop some interesting standalone audio applications in the very near future.
Here is the link to the zip file of the patches folder. You can copy it over the patches folder included with the 052008 release. For those who can’t wait to dive in: the patches are called CubeWidget*. The one you should include in your patches is CubeWidgetPanel.pat. The patches are cross-platform, of course.

Alternatively you can use the patch submitted by Peter Nyboer from Livid Instruments. You can find it in the forum here: http://forum.percussa.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=28
As an example, we created some patches to send Open Sound Control (OSC) messages to Future Audio Workshop’s Circle synth using the AudioCubes. Inside the patches folder, look for CubeWidgetPanelToCircle.pat.
We also did a Quartz Composer example to send colour info over Open Sound Control (OSC) from Quartz to the AudioCubes’ RGB LED. Inside the patches folder, look for QuartzToCubeWidgetPanel.pat.

The updated patches will be included in the next software release of course. Meanwhile you can use the above links. If you have some questions or problems getting it running join the forum at http://forum.percussa.com/ – we will be delighted to help you.
The MIDIBridge software got an update today fixing a few minor bugs and adding support for all setup parameters to be stored and recalled using the preset system. You can read more about the update and download it here: http://forum.percussa.com/viewtopic.php?t=40.
The updated Max/MSP patches for MIDIBridge will be available in the next software release package for AudioCubes. As you probably already know, all host software for AudioCubes is freely available and open source, and built in Cycling 74’s Max/MSP software. So you can customize it easily to your own needs. Do you need OSC or some other protocol instead of MIDI communication? If it’s available in Max/MSP you can easily use it with AudioCubes and the freely available Max/MSP patches.
Since the introduction of AudioCubes we’ve had a few requests from users in various countries in Europe and Asia for translations of the manuals for AudioCubes.
We decided to kick off the translation of manuals by offering Italian, Spanish, Japanese, and German versions. We keep the manuals in a wiki, which offers excellent support for writing documentation and maintaining it across many languages (wikipedia.org is an excellent example of this).
If you live in a country with a language not yet supported by us, feel free to email us and let us know,
so we can take your request into account on the next update of the manuals. If you would like to do a translation of a manual into a new language, send us an email, we’ll support your effort and make
sure to reward you for your hard work.
Welcome to The Urbano Lounge, the second downloadable sound pack from Percussa.
This pack contains an inspiring collection of mid tempo lounging loops, breaks and samples to help you on your way towards cube success!
The pack contains over 140Mb of loop content recorded and produced exclusively for Percussa Audio Cubes by Cuesounds (UK). Although the pack was designed to work with Propellerheads Reason 4, the samples can be used with other software too.
Included are three main folders, two of which contain sampled loops, and one containing four combinator tools. The sampled loops are included in both WAV and RX2 file format. The included combinator patches were designed to use the RX2 format. The sampled loops have been created around a general lounge and hip hop theme. Some of the sounds included are not typically representative of this genre, however help balance an eclectic palette of sounds that can be used in a variety of styles.
This pack has been designed to give the AudioCubes enthusiast more advanced content than typically included with software releases. The combinator patches included are by no means the only control possibilities within the Reason environment, but help highlight the power of the combinator device and the AudioCubes. Visit our online shop for more information about the sound pack!
