Andre is a sound designer and producer we met through our friends at Loopmasters, who uses AudioCubes. He also demo’ed them in our booth at NAMM 2008. He recently started his own company, Cuesounds, to develop professional, high quality sound packs in a variety of music styles.

Besides his work for companies like Loopmasters he also did a few packs especially optimized for use with AudioCubes. Each sound pack has premade samples included, in different music styles, and can be used with different 3rd party software through our free MIDIBridge software for AudioCubes.

There is a pack for Propellerheads Reason (Urbano Lounge), and one for Ableton Live (Progressions). For users of FL Studio, you can check out his recent Future Space pack. All the mappings have been pre-made by him. In the video below he presents some of the sound packs:

In case you are not into the music style of the sound packs, you can still use the included files as templates in which you can insert your own sound content, mash them up, use them for your live performances setup, or make use of them in another way. They can help you save time. In case you missed his previous video in which he talks about the AudioCubes hardware, you can watch it here:

Our friends from Liege (Belgium) just sent in this interesting tutorial on using LoopShaper, the free sound design application for AudioCubes we released a while ago at NAMM 2009.

LoopShaper is a standalone VST host application, in which you can load a VST instrument, and control it using 2 AudioCubes. One cube controls notes and the other cube controls parameters of the instrument. The software loops and records your interactions with the cubes, with the possibility of letting the memory “fade”, such that you can record on top of what you already recorded. The end result can be recorded to disk as WAV of course, so you can load the loops into your favourite DAW and build a song or composition from there.

What is interesting about loopshaper is that it lets you listen and interact with real physical objects without dealing with the complexity of a full DAW in the idea-gathering phase of your work. The software is fairly minimal yet powerful.

If you want to learn more about LoopShaper you can check out its application software page here.

If you want to read more about their work check out the interview here.

In the video below he talks about his music and instruments he uses, among which we can spot AudioCubes, a theremin, Jazzmutant Lemur, tenori-on, Kaoss Pad, a saw, an various traditional string instruments.

A while ago we wrote about Arecio Smith from Barcelona, who plays with the band Asstrio. You can click here to read the original post.

After seeing the video about his experimental work, I decided to ask for a full interview, to learn more about the role of technology in his band Asstrio and his own projects. Click here to read the article.

A while ago (january 2009) we were at the NAMM show in Anaheim, California, to show AudioCubes, when we met Bostich from Nortec Collective.

Shortly after getting a demo they insisted on taking home a set of AudioCubes.

In the next days I was surprised to get a nice message from them and some video material, so I made a post immediately (read the original blog post here about Nortec Collective)!

I’m still in touch with them regularly, so we did a short interview about their work and usage of technology in making music. Read the full interview here.

dsc_2450A while ago I received an order for AudioCubes from someone in Brazil. It turned out to be Ilan Kriger, apparently a well known face in the DJ scene over there.

I was curious about his DJ school project in Brazil, and his use of technology in DJing and music production, so I decided to ask for an interview. Read the full article here!
