AudioCubes and Overtone

2012-02-18

A couple of days ago we received an email from Tom Oinn, musician, programmer as well as AudioCubes user from the UK. He's currently working on a project in Overtone with the Percussa AudioCubes.

For those of you who don't know Overtone, it is an open source audio environment which uses the SuperCollider synth server as audio engine and Clojure, a recent dialect of the Lisp programming language, to develop APIs, applications, synthesizers, effects, analyzers and musical generators.

Tom is currently working on a project to provide virtual control surfaces to Overtone. In a recent blog post, Controllerism for Overtone - AudioCubes, Tom describes how he wrote his code starting from the Percussa AudioCubes OSC server.

It is all in the early implementation and design stages, but if you have an interest in Overtone, and you have a set of AudioCubes, you can drop Tom an email to talk about his project in more detail.

Overtone is frequently organizing hack days. Join the Overtone Google Group, and you'll be updated about what's going on in the Overtone community, and when and where the next hack day will take place.
